vesakha puja, Khon Kaen, Isaan, Wat Phra That (mobile post) 17.05.11


The first Governor of Khon Kaen had the temple built in1789,early in the cities history. The name of the temple came from the Phra That pagoda that was built on the grunds as a holy site. The original pagodas on the temple ground were badly ruined and the original Phra That unidentifiable, so the committee decided to build a new 45 meter tall That, which is now in some disrepair.The principle bronze Buddha image is in the ubosot, ordination hall.
Altough the present Governor attendedmorning Vesakha ceremonies here there was not much of a crowd. More dslr photos later
